IDEM to Host Booth at Earth Day Indiana Festival
INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) will be hosting a booth at the Earth Day Indiana Festival on Saturday, April 22. The event will be held at Historic Military Park at White River State Park in Indianapolis from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
IDEM staff will be available to talk about the importance of electronics recycling or E-Cycling. Recycling electronics ensures that materials, such as heavy metals, are safely managed and that valuable materials such as steel, glass, plastic, and precious metals are reclaimed for the manufacturing of new products.
Items eligible for E-Cycle include: •Televisions •Computer monitors •Computers (including desktops, laptops, and tablets) •E-readers •Fax machines •Peripherals (including keyboards, mice, external hard drives, printers, all-in-one printer/scanner/copiers, projectors, and any other devices that are sold exclusively for external use with a computer and provide input into or output from a computer) •DVD players (including gaming systems that are able to play DVDs) •Digital photo frames •Digital media players •iPods/MP3 players •Camcorders/cameras •DVR/TiVo devices (including cable boxes and satellite boxes, but not satellite dishes) •Portable GPS navigation systems Note: Electronics will be not be accepted at the festival, but information about where to take your unwanted items will be available.
IDEM will also be collaborating with Covanta, Drug Free Marion County and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department to collect unwanted and expired medications at the festival.
The 28th annual Earth Day Indiana Festival’s theme is "Celebrating Our Pollinators" and will include more than 120 exhibitors, live music, local food and beverage vendors, activities for children and adults, a 5k run/walk, 1 mile fun walk, and information about birds, bees, butterflies, and native plants.
